The original conception of the NRMF was a long time dream of one of the Founders.
After serving in the US Army as an Transportation Specialist, he also served a long career in the private sector as a Commercial Truck Driver. While driving millions of miles across our country's roadways, he was regularly confronted with the harsh realities of roadway tragedies.
"When we are sitting in stopped traffic on a roadway, we sometimes tend to be irritated by the delay. "What's the problem?!?!?" we might think to ourselves.
But, when you are actually there. On the scene of the accident. You can truly experience the very painful and harsh realities of a roadway tragedy firsthand.
A young child, covered with a blanket in the middle of the road, with a sobbing mother by her side.
A husband, bellowing tears while holding his dying wife in his arms.
A mom that just made a quick run to the store for milk, but sadly won't be returning home.
An entire family on a holiday vacation to meet family and friends, but will never arrive.
It is then that you will begin to realize that it's NOT just another traffic delay in your life.
It's the sad and tragic end to someones life.
Gone in an instant.
With no last goodbyes to their family or their loved ones."

So the idea to create a Roadside Memorial Foundation started.
It was to be a Non-Profit Charity that would not only document and provide a safe and permanent storage place for all of the amazing Roadside Memorials located across our nations roadways, but also an organization that could provide assistance to the families and sometimes orphaned children that suffer from the unexpected loss of a family provider.
Unfortunately, the idea sat dormant for many years until one day, during a social gathering, the idea was shared with just a few close friends and family members. The following day, those same friends and family re-met and made the decision to join forces, and together they became the dedicated Founders of the National Roadside Memorial Foundation.
Without their honored commitment and dedication to the project, the mission would most likely never have been started.
Today, the Founders, the Staff and ALL of the amazing Volunteers of the NATIONAL ROADSIDE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION serve proudly for each and every family across America.
These incredible individuals and giving organizations travel all across the nations roadways, maintaining and documenting Roadside Memorials, assisting families in need, promoting motorcycle and trucking awareness and educating common drivers about Roadway Safety.
